Moon rocked

NASA is reporting that an explosion was sighted on the Moon's surface. Don't worry, there are no little green men involved. But there is something odd about this report.

The explosion was detect on November 7 of last year and is presumed to be a result of the Taurid meteor shower from around the same time. Having occurred in Mare Imbrium, the cause is believed to be a 12-centimeter-wide meteor that hit with the force of 70 kilograms of TNT.

What seems unclear is why the explosion wasn't reported until late December. That and the fact that there was such excitement over celestial body already so pock-marked getting hit again.
