Nigerian scammers convicted
Is it possible that the Nigerian 419 scam is finally over forever? Probably not. But at least a couple of the perpetrators are getting put away.
BBC News is reporting that Frank Nwude and Nzeribe Okoli have been found guilty by a Nigerian court of defrauding the Banco Noroeste of Brazil of $242 million. This is being called "[Nigeria's] biggest ever international fraud trial."
According to Reuters, Emmanuel Nwude and Nzeribe Okoli have received sentences of 25 years and 12 years respectively. Amaka Anajemba also received 2.5 years for her involvement. A Banco Noroeste official involved in the scam had previously been arrested and has already served a year in prison.
