Can anyone leave a TikTok voice comment?

Not yet. TikTok says Voice Comments are for accounts aged 18 or older and are rolling out worldwide over the month following the September 3 announcement. An eligible adult account may still receive the feature later than another account in the same country.

The ability to comment also depends on the video owner’s settings. If comments are disabled, restricted to selected audiences or filtered, the microphone cannot override those controls.

Comment Polls are designed for creators to place a vote beneath their own video. They are not a general poll button for every viewer on every post.

2. Tap the photo or gallery control.
3. Grant photo-library access if needed.
4. Select up to nine images.
5. Check their order and remove anything unintended.

How Live Photo Comments work

Live Photo Comments were announced as globally available, although device support and local app versions can still affect what appears.

Before uploading, hold the Live Photo in your gallery and review the entire motion segment. A harmless still image can contain an unintended face, screen or spoken moment in the frames around it.

Why the microphone or poll button is missing

1. The rollout has not reached your account

This is the most likely reason for a missing Voice Comments or Photo Carousel Comments control during September 2026. TikTok described both as month-long global rollouts, not same-day releases. Reinstalling the app repeatedly will not force a server-side feature flag.

2. Your account is under 18

Voice Comments require an account aged 18 or older. Do not enter a false birth date to bypass the restriction. If TikTok has an incorrect age on the account, use its official age-support process rather than opening a replacement account with false information.

3. The creator has restricted comments

4. TikTok lacks microphone or photo permission

On iPhone, open Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and enable TikTok. On Android, open Settings → Apps → TikTok → Permissions and allow the microphone. Use the equivalent Photos permission for carousel and Live Photo comments.

Grant only the access you need. Where the operating system offers selected-photo access, it is safer than exposing the entire library.

5. The app is outdated or its cache is stuck

Install the current TikTok update, close the app completely and reopen it. If the interface still behaves incorrectly, use TikTok’s in-app cache-clearing option before reinstalling. Save drafts first because drafts are normally stored on the device and can disappear when the app is removed.
